Midshipman’s Needle is a bespoke and made-to-measure tailoring shop, specialising in clothing of bygone ages, which aims to provide a one-on-one, personalised tailoring service for any customer who feels out of place with the times. Just behind a small and unassuming storefront with a magpie threading a needle emblazoned on the door is our experienced tailor ready to help. After a thorough conversation as to the cut and style of the garments you’re after, we will see you through to your most comfortable fit every step of the way.

Menwear is our specialty. We can provide full bespoke suits, waistcoats, shirts, trousers and undergarments. Just come in and speak to the tailor about the style and cut that would make you feel most at home in your clothes. Peruse the drafts and drawings. There are some pre-made samples available to be fitted and purchased, but we pride ourselves in our personalized service. We are here to see to your specific needs, the way a tailor ought to do.

While the shop specializes in menswear, it is happy to provide full dresses, skirts, shirts, stays and corsets. ✁ ACCESSORIES & ALTERATIONS

Perhaps you don't want to go in for a full outfit, but want some of the comforts of home. The tailor can add buttons, remove zippers, add pockets, add lining to existing clothes, embroider, and tailor what you've purchased to actually fit your shape. Alterations can sometimes be the key to feeling at home again in your new clothes.

We can also provide all manner of accessories of durable quality. Braces(Suspenders) with button holes, embroidered handkerchiefs, socks, garters, all manner of ties and neckerchiefs, gloves and more. Any fabric accessory before Hats and Shoes we can provide (Experienced Haberdashers and Shoemakers may enquire for employment).

Rumor has it that, for the discerning and familiar customer, the shop has some items behind the counter. Not a leatherworker by trade, there is always room for expansion, and our tailor is trying his hand at select fabric and leather intimate wares. Enquire for more details.
